The basics of Windows Phone multitasking

As it stands, the multitasking capability with Windows Phone is pretty limited. Applications can’t run in the background, so making sure the state of the application is saved is up to the developer.

It should be interesting to see how Microsoft evolves the multitasking features with future releases of WP7. You would expect some drastic changes given the frustration and unneeded difficulty this poses for third-party developers.
