All Microsoft Employees Getting A Free Windows Phone

You have to imagine that most Microsoft employees currently have an iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, or WebOS device. These devices come with 2-year contracts. I wonder what they’ll do after their company gives every single one of them a free Windows Phone? That’s exactly what is happening right now:

andrewleesWith all the buzz, a lot of you are asking how you can get your hands on a phone and get more involved. So, I am thrilled to announce that a new Windows Phone 7 will be made available to every Microsoft employee as we launch in each market around the world. The process will vary based on your market, your carrier, and your launch date so stay tuned for more information closer to launch.

That’s an internal E-Mail from Microsoft Senior VP of Mobile, Andy Lees.

Will employees who stick with their current device without jumping ship to use their Windows Phone face persecution? Many have likely grown familiar with or an affinity to their current offering. Regardless, it’s a pretty awesome gesture on behalf of the company and considering how large Microsoft is, it will be a great way to get some evangelists and users talking to their friends/family about their new phones.
