Microsoft abandons phone hardware development

After the failure that was the Microsoft Kin, the company’s CFO of the Mobile Telecommunication Tivanka Ellawala has announced that there are no plans to make any more phones. “We are in the software business and that is where our business will be focused”. Not that we expect them to make a second generation Kin, but still, it’s nice to know that they are focusing their energy on the OS.

Ellawala feels very confident in Windows Phone 7, and with well-built devices from actual phone hardware companies from HTC, LG, and others, the OS could have a very bright future.
