Is Iris Reserved for the Special Developers?

If you are developing a program for WP7 you might find that Silverlight or XNA might not be enough to get done what you need.  Luckily this is one headache I will never have to deal with since I can’t program.  If you run into this problem there is a solution, Iris, unfortunately it might only be for major developers.

The validity of that claim can be questioned though.  To get a pass to be able to use the native code you would just need something like a streaming music app and you can get permission from Microsoft.  This could mean that high profile games could get access or possibly anyone can they just have to ask first.

It seems to me like Microsoft just wants the masses developing on Silverlight but if you can’t they will let you use Iris.
