Flexible smartphone screens set to launch in 2012

Samsung is planning to unleash the above-seen technology on the smartphone world as early as the first half of next year.

Their venture started with the acquisition of Liquivista, a company specializing in flexible displays, in January 2011.

Note that Samsung is not the only company researching and developing this type of technology. Sony demonstrated a flexible display at CES 2009, but has not announced plans to release it on any devices. Still, we expect Samsung’s to be the first to hit the market.

Will slap phones be the next new fad?
