Windows Phone Marketplace Milestone: 45,000 Apps

The Windows Phone Marketplace has finally reached a milestone of 45,000 apps just a month after its 40,000 app milestone. More than 5,000 apps were added in the month of November, according to All About Windows Phone. The actual number sits at around 45,610 apps with 5,837 added within the last 30 days. More than 10,000 publishers are releasing apps for the marketplace and at this rate of growth, it is expected that the marketplace will surpass the 50,000 mark before we ring in the new year.

Some other interesting statistics for the marketplace include the average paid price per app, which is $1.77. 55% of the apps available on the market are available for free, while an estimated 5,784 apps are no longer being developed. The growth rate for the marketplace shows a steady increase, which can only spell good things for WP7 as it gains marketshare. More than 200 new apps are being developed for the platform each day, and while it still has a while to go before it catches up to Android or even iOS, there seems to be a solid place for WP7 in the market.
