Rumors of Nokia Selling its Smartphone Business to Microsoft Pop Up Again

In May rumors were swirling that Microsoft and Nokia had done more than just partner, but that Nokia was in talks to sell its smartphone business¬†completely. Nokia denied those rumors, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor train from heating up again. Danske Bank, the largest bank in Denmark, has issued a report this morning thatclaims Nokia will indeed sell it’s smartphone business to Microsoft in the first half of 2012. Subsequently Danske has raised Nokia’s stock from Hold to Buy as shares rose 3% after the news. In response to this new report Nokia has said “we put these rumors to rest a long time ago.”¬†Interesting news to say the least. Owning a hardware company like Nokia would give Microsoft Apple-like control over its products.
