Gets into the Windows Phone Spirit

Fans of Windows Phone 7 have long complained about the lack of exposure Microsoft seems to be giving the mobile OS, but that seems to be changing. Yesterday a clever marketing stunt giving away Lumia 800 phones in Germany was created, while today users of will be greeted with a very festive page featuring the Samsung Omnia W. In addition, the site is offering a $25 dollar pre-paid app card for use on the Marketplace for those who purchase Windows phones before December 31st.

I’m not sure any of these recent marketing efforts have anything to do with Andy Lees stepping down as head of Windows phone development, but it seems as though Microsoft has realized that in order to penetrate the Android/iPhone heavy market, it will need to do more than skate by on good looks and functionality.
