Intel Shows off Nikiski Prototype at CES

So here’s something we never expected to see at CES. Intel debuted a prototype laptop called the Nikiski at its CES 2012 keynote. The specs on the laptop are pretty standard, but the real head turner here is the entire palm rest of the laptop is a glass touchpad. The full-width glass touchpad allows for the LCD to shine through it, so that the bottom of the laptop can be used as a widget display for Windows 8 widgets.

No further information was given about the prototype, but we’ll definitely try and get a hands on once we’re on the showfloor so keep an eye out here if you’re interested.

  • That is a brilliant use of the palm-rest area. Why hasn’t this happened sooner!?
