NPD Releases Latest Smartphone Sales Stats

The NPD Group has released their stats for the final months of 2011 and once again, it does not look good for Windows Phone. While we’re happy to see a decline in Windows Mobile, it doesn’t seem as if those people who are leaving the platform are upgrading to Windows Phone.

Windows phone started off “strong” in 2010 at just under 10%, but it has been declining since then to a point where it has fallen below 6%. Hopefully with the release of the HTC Titan II and the Nokia Lumia 900, we’ll see a larger jump in marketshare within the coming months.

  • I hope that WP7 can really crack the marketshare open with the Nokia lineup and become a strong third OS. If anything could do it, the Nokia phones look up to the task.
