Analysts Estimate 1.3 Million Lumias Shipped in 2011

Nokia will be announcing the number of Lumia handsets they shipped in 2011 as part of their quarterly financial results on the 26th. However, that doesn’t stop analysts from trying to ballpark the number before that date.

Bloomberg polled 22 analysts, for a number ranging from 800,000 to 2 million. This puts the average squarely at 1.3 million handsets for the Finnish manufacturer.

Considering that the Lumia series of phones got off to a late start last year, this makes the deal between Microsoft and Nokia seem all that more lucrative when you consider that the United States market is only just now being penetrated.

The Finnish handset maker has already posted a loss of $119 million this quarter, but shares are on the rise as it begins Operation Rolling Thunder.
