Kantar Says Windows Phone May Reach 10% Marketshare in 2012

Analyst firms love to bash Windows Phone for its small marketshare, but almost any firm you talk to speculates that the system could grow if given the right treatment.

Kantar Worldpanel ComTech is no different, nothing that by the end of Q4 2011, Windows Phones still commanded less than 2% marketshare in nine territories including Europe, Australia, and United States. Dominic Sunnebo, Global Consumer Insight Director had this to say about the platform.

“The Nokia Lumia 800 still needs to be joined by a number of other competitive Windows Phone handsets before we are likely to see the OS (operating system) providing any real challenge to the likes of Apple, Android and BlackBerry.”

Dominic expects the Windows Phone platform to expand its reach to up to 10% over the coming year.
