Windows Phone App Running on Windows 8 With 90% of Original Code

If you’re wondering how well Windows 8 and Windows Phone will be able to swap code when it comes to development, it seems like Rick Walrond has the answer for you. Recently he managed to get his app AlphaDrops running on Windows 8 with over 90% of the original code. Walrond reported that the port took about two weeks and demonstrated his progress on a Samsung Series 7 Slate running the Windows 8 Developer Preview.

If Walrond’s easy porting experience holds true for all Windows Phone apps, it looks like the line between desktop app and mobile app could be getting much more blurry. Check out the video below to see the app in action on the tablet.

  • That’s awesome. If I were an app developer, I’d have a huge nerdy boner right now.
