Microsoft Rebranding Services for Windows 8

We’ve been talking about the various re-branding steps Microsoft will take with it’s Consumer Preview build, but as the 29th moves closer and closer it seems as though more services will go under the knife. The Verge is reporting that not only will Zune be completely re-done, but the Windows LIVE branding will go as well. Here’s a full list of the changes:

  • Microsoft Account (Windows Live ID)
  • Mail (Windows Live Mail)
  • Calendar (Windows Live Calendar)
  • People (Windows Live Contacts)
  • Photos (Windows Live Photo Gallery)
  • Music (Zune Music Player)
  • Video (Zune Video Player)

Of course, this isn’t the first time Microsoft has tried to re-brand it’s services, but it is the first time they’ve taken such a simple approach to everything, instead of hiding behind complicated names such as Games for Windows LIVE. I personally welcome the changes. How about you?
