Microsoft Fails to Follow its Own MetroUI Guidelines

One of the defining experiences of using a Windows Phone is the MetroUI. Microsoft has gone to great lengths to praise developers who conform to this form factor, but it seems the company can’t be bothered to do the same thing for its own apps.

Recently Microsoft Research released an app called Dotastic that features an interface designed for an iPhone. The bottom bar is present and the MetroUI tiles that are present in the app are cramped and hard to read. This type of inconsistency is a sure-fire way to dilute the MetroUI experience. Microsoft needs to step up it’s game and enforce it’s own guidelines if it wants developers to migrate to the platform.
