Microsoft Says Windows 8 Coming to Second-Gen Handsets, Probably First Too

With the Apollo update looming over us, many who might be considering switching to Windows Phone are holding off, while others who already have are wondering if they’ll have to upgrade to new hardware in order to experience the new update.

According to a Microsoft rep, second generation handsets such as the HTC Radar and the Lumia handsets will definitely receive the update. The rep goes on to say that first gen handsets will receive the update in some form or fashion, but certain features may be left out such as video calls with Skype.

The last notable piece of information is that the rep mentioned the Apollo update is scheduled for a late 2012 release.

  • Nice!!! Glad to see we’ll get an update!

  • My upgrade time is coming up fairly soon, but Sprint doesn’t have a single WP7 device I care about so I’ll probably stick with android for now. Hopefully that changes in the future though.
