Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode II to Feature Synchronous Gaming

Way back in 2010, Microsoft advertised the pick up and play feature that showed an Xbox LIVE game being played on Windows Phone, only to be paused and then resumed in the same spot on the Xbox 360 without problems. It’s a feature Sony has been doing for years with it’s PS3/PSP combo, but something Microsoft has failed at delivering until now.

It seems as though Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode II will be the first title to support synchronous play between Windows Phone, Xbox 360, and PC devices. It’s certainly a step forward for Microsoft, who has yet to compete with Sony or Nintendo officially in the handheld gaming market, though this feature could turn that notion on its head if more Xbox LIVE games begin to support it.
