Boonce for Windows Phone Game Review [Video]

Boonce is a new game that popped up in the Marketplace just yesterday. The developer team was nice enough to send us a promotional copy to review, and we’re glad they did. Speaking of the developer team, the app was built by a father/son team which is really cool. They also enlisted the help of a designer, but I digress.

In Boonce you control a cannon and the idea is to shoot targets. The premise seems simple, but it’s a lot harder than you think. Certain targets can only be shot in specific ways. Some need to be hit off of a bounce, others must be hit directly. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you fail to hit a target correctly the level restarts. This can be frustrating, but it makes the game¬†extremely¬†addictive.

The graphics of the game are really nice and polished. One thing we found especially thoughtful was the ability to turn off the color of the targets and replace them with symbols. You may not think this is a big deal, but they did it for colorblind people. The physics of the game work really well. The cannon balls bounce (or boonce?) around like crazy but they eventually stop. The controls are super easy.

We really like Boonce. It’s one of the best new games we’ve played. You can get Boonce in the Marketplace for $1.99 or a free trial. The full game includes over 100 levels of gameplay, the trial comes with 28 levels. Watch the video above for an overview of the game, and check out the gallery of screenshots.
