Windows 8 Gets First Third Party Twitter App, FlipToast

When the Consumer Preview for Windows 8 released earlier this year, the Twitter app available for users was a Microsoft creation. Today, a new app released by W3i Holdings is available called FlipToast that lets Windows 8 users update both Twitter and Facebook. A social graph is also included that is supposed to help users find topics of interest.

Neither Twitter nor Facebook have announced their plans for the upcoming operating system, but it’s very unlikely that either company would rest on its laurels while third party developers cash in on their services.

It’s nice to see development underway for Windows 8, though I’m still skeptical about how well the metro interface will work in a desktop setting. I’ll leave that up to the app developers to convince ┬áme.
