Microsoft’s Windows Phone Apollo meeting agenda mentions “Customization & Differentiation”

There’s been a lot of talk about Windows Phone 8 lately, and a lot of it hasn’t been good. But while we’re all wondering what phones will be upgraded Microsoft is planning a summit meeting with its partners. The topic? Windows Phone 8. Netbook news has posted the alleged agenda of the meeting.

  • Apollo Review
  • Windows Phone Schedules and release plans/processes
  • Customization & Differentiation opportunities
  • New Windows Phone 8 application development capabilities
  • What’s new feature review of Apollo
  • Connectivity and APN management
  • Better together with Windows 8

The one thing that stands out to us is customization. As it stands Windows Phone does not offer much on the customization front, for carriers, OEMs, or consumers. Differentiation leads us to believe that this customization will be for OEMs. With Android a company like HTC can differentiate from other Android phones with Sense. Windows Phone looks the same everywhere, and OEMs probably don’t like that. This would be a smart move by Microsoft.
