Microsoft has locked out HTC from making Windows RT tablets

Here’s an interesting report. Bloomberg is reporting that Microsoft has locked out HTC from necessary information to make a Windows RT tablet. Windows RT is the ARM version of Windows 8.

Microsoft has locked HTC out from Windows RT because of concern with HTC’s previous ventures into tablets. Apparently HTC has not sold enough tablets to be worth Microsoft’s time. That’s a pretty bold statement, and we have a hard time believing that Microsoft would be so rude to a partner like HTC. We would hope that Microsoft sees the poor tablet sales as the fault of Android, not HTC’s build quality.

What do you think?

  • I can’t believe that. HTC has been the greatest supporter for Microsoft’s mobile platforms for the past 5 years or so. Especially don’t forget HD7 as the 1st gen flagship for WP7. If this comes true, it would be very sad!
