For those of you who hate having to find your cable to update your phone, good news. Windows Phone 8 will now allow for updates over the air, which means you get the update as soon as it’s available. Additionally, Microsoft has confirmed that they will continue to support Windows Phone 8 devices for up to 18 months after they have been released.
This promise is interesting and it’s something that Android manufacturers were supposed to do, but that fell through. Whether or not Microsoft can force this from their OEM partners including Nokia, Huawei, Samsung, and HTC remains to be seen. We’re cautiously optimistic when Microsoft says that it will support these handsets beyond the initial year.
