Yesterday we told you about a Swedish website that listed the Microsoft Surface around $1,100 on its website. That price is simply outrageous and would make the Surface dead in the water if it were true, which thankfully its not. Webhallen.com updated their stance on the outrageous pricing by saying:
“Our customers are very interested in pre-ordering these products, so we have set a high preliminary pricing for the lineup so that they may be able to pre-order them.
Just to clarify, we have not received any pricing from Microsoft regarding MRSP or purchasing net cost, and any people who have booked the Surface at this high price will of course have their order adjusted before any product is shipped. So we’re not going to overcharge anyone for being an early adopter.”
So basically at this point its a Swedish retailer pulling a price out of the air and slapping it on the website so excited people can hand them nearly four times the speculated cost. Still, it’s great to know that there is no basis for this cost, as Microsoft hasn’t released any details on the final pricing of these tablets yet.
