Windows Phone 8 will allow Bluetooth to do more Bluetooth-y stuff

Yes, more Windows Phone 8 feature leaks! Don’t you just love it? Next up is expanding the Bluetooth functionality. Currently the only decent thing you can do with Bluetooth in WP7 is connect headsets. That’s all about to change in WP8. In the developer preview of WP8 there are two Bluetooth scenarios: app to app, and app to device.

App to app

As the name suggests, this is for sending things from identical apps on different phones. For example, if my friend and I use the same CNN app we could send links to articles between phones via Bluetooth.

App to device

This one is harder to explain. An app can use Bluetooth to discover a device that is offering a service that the app wants. It will send a request to that device and then open a stream of communication between them.
