Lenovo Announces ThinkPad Tablet 2, Its First Windows 8 Tablet

We knew it wouldn’t be long before Windows 8 went gold that we’d start seeing the hardware behind the software. Lenovo is the first out of the gate with the ThinkPad Tablet 2, which The Verge recently had a hands-on demo with. The tablet is a 9.8mm Windows 8 Pro tablet and will have 3G and AT&T LTE models available. The device also includes a keyboard with the familiar finger mouse, as well as a dock. Overall, the device by itself weighs in at 1.3 pounds and features a 10.1 inch screen with a  1366 x 768 display.

Pricing for the tablet has yet to be announced, but Lenovo expects the tablet to launch in October when Windows 8 becomes officially available to the public, perhaps as a day one tablet that could even beat the Microsoft Surface out of the gate. What do you think of the specs so far?

  • I am holding off all judgement on Windows8 tablets until I can play with the Surface.
