Windows Phone Finally Overtakes Symbian in Finland

We’ve had positive news all week about the growth of the Windows Phone platform, so why not throw a little more positive fuel on the fire? Today StatCounter confirmed that Windows Phone has finally overtaken Symbian in marketshare for Nokia’s home country of Finland, where Windows Phone sits at a hefty 13.7% and Symbian is down to 12.3%.

Of course Nokia is to thank for the big jump and the decline in Symbian, but it’s nice to see that Nokia’s current embraced ecosystem can do well in the country. While the Finnish market certainly doesn’t speak for the rest of the world, this is good news for both Nokia and Microsoft as they prepare to tackle the rest of the world with Windows Phone 8 in the fall.
