Lenovo lets slip that Windows RT devices will be much cheaper than Windows Pro

The big question ever since Microsoft Surface was announced in two versions has been what will these devices cost? One runs a full version of Windows, while the other runs a special version for ARM. Microsoft said that the devices would be priced competitively, but Lenovo may have just given us a better look at pricing.

David Schmoock, Lenovo’s head of North America, says that Windows RT devices will cost as much as $300 less than their Windows 8 Pro counterparts. He also goes on to say that Win8 Pro devices will be priced around $600-700, which could put Windows RT devices as low as $300. it’s obvious that Microsoft is making a big push to consumers with RT, and these prices will definitely help out in that market.

TBH, I’m far less worried about price and very concerned about availability of Surface RT outside of the US. It’ll take something extremely special from a competent OEM to make me look at anything other than Surface at the moment.

As far as price, I’d guess at ~£400 for Surface RT. Which would mean ~$400 for US given that stuff is more expensive here. Usually, the the US RRP with the $ substituted for a £.

Duh! And may i add “of course. RT tablets are easier and can’t do as much as pro tablets. I will wait for the Asus Tai Chi, it is near perfection. The ultimate hybrid between tablet and PC.
