Spice Up Your Steam Client With This Windows 8 Skin

I’ve long admired the look of Windows 8 simply because I prefer the flat look to that of Window 7’s Aero. If you’re an avid gamer like me and you enjoy the Windows 8 look, you can now have it for Steam thanks to BoneYardBrew on DeviantArt. The skin sticks to the metro style well, while still presenting relevant information when it comes to your downloads and game info.

If you happen to be one of the lucky few in the new Steam Community beta, the skin even supports the overhaul for that feature, so it’ll work just fine with your beta client. Another added touch is the ability to change the accent color (blue in the screenshot above) to match any of the Windows Phone colors, or to choose your own should you not be happy with those colors.

I’ve been using the skin on my Steam client for about three months now and updates are quick and easy and I’ve not had any issues to report. If you want to check it out, you can download the skin here. For help installing Steam skins, see here. To change the accent color, you’ll need to read the text in the DeviantArt post and follow those instructions accordingly.

  • I’ve been using it on and off for a few weeks, and like it quite a bit. There are a few things that annoy me to have uninstalled it recently, but I hope Valve does a cool Win8 skin for Steam.
