Samsung has had an interesting couple weeks. The largest Android manufacturer received a blow in court by losing to Apple over patent infringement, and then later beat Nokia to the Windows Phone 8 punch. Samsung showed off the ATIV S along side the Galaxy Note 2, their flagship Android device. That’s something we haven’t seen from Samsung, who usually relegates their Windows Phone device announcement to press releases.
An unnamed Asian OEM has said they want to “diversify into other products running Windows.” Samsung officials have also told the Korea Times that they want to reduce their reliance on Android. Samsung was “closely partnering with Microsoft to cut its dependency on Google Android” write the officials. This is very good news for Windows Phone if Samsung starts taking WP8 seriously.
