Acer Confirms Its Commitment to Windows Phone for 2013

Acer has been noisy about Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 and not necessarily in a good way. Today, the company has reconfirmed its plans to release a Windows Phone 8 handset in the second half of 2013, instead of trying to muscle in on Samsung and Nokia’s territory by getting in early. Acer President Jim Wong confirmed that the company will be releasing six handsets next year, with five of them being Android and one of them a Windows Phone 8 handset.

It’s unlikely we’ll see the handset here in the United States as the Acer Allegro pictured above was heavily marketed in Europe and received well in markets like France, which is where Acer will probably stay. Still, it’s good to see that Acer is capable of making statements that don’t include whining about competition.
