Windows Phone 8 has new Start Screen animation

An extensive hands-on video with the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 has been posted on YouTube, and a reader over at WMPU noticed something new in Windows Phone 8. The minor change can be seen when the user presses the Windows button on the Lumia 820 around the 10:50 mark. Instead of the usual fly in animation of the Start screen tiles you can also see the app list fly in.

This is likely due to the moving of the arrow that let the user know where the app list was located. Since that is no longer front and center on the Start screen this animation acts as a “hey look what’s over here” to the user. Where has the arrow gone? It can now be found below the tiles.
