With the launch of Windows 8 looming over us, Microsoft has announced that Xbox Music will launch on October 26th, right alongside Windows 8. The service will offer subscriptions just like its predecessor Zune Music Pass, but the service will also offer free streaming that is ad-supported, similar to Spotify and Pandora. The service will be available at launch on Windows 8, Windows Phone and Xbox 360.
SkyDrive integration will allow users to store music and playlists in the cloud and access them from several devices. Additional platforms will be supported later, including iOS and Android, though apps will not be available for those platforms at launch.
