Microsoft Points finally replaced with cash in Windows 8

The unpopular Microsoft Points system used in Xbox Live and Zune Marketplace is finally starting to disappear. In previous versions of Windows 8 MS Points were used to purchase movie rentals and music, but now it seems they have switched to good ‘ol fashioned cash.

Instead of having to buy bundles of points and then purchasing something with the points, Microsoft has eliminated the middle man and made it possible to just straight up buy something with a credit card. This change should make things much simpler for all the new Windows 8 users. Points can still be used if you prefer, but the default payment method is now credit card. Points are also still being used on the Xbox, but we expect that to change soon.

Are you happy to see Points go to the wayside?
