We’ve talked about Rooms in the past, and now Joe Belfiore is talking about them in more detail. As the name suggests, it’s a special Room for you to chat, post photos, share notes, and see everything that’s happening with a group of people. It’s like group chat on steroids. The Rooms can be customized with photos to make them easily identifiable. Windows Phone 8 devices will come with a default “Family Room” to get started.
A really cool feature of Rooms is that people who don’t have Windows Phones can still be included. They don’t get all the features that you do, but they are still included for things like calendar events. This is key for making this feature useful, because not everyone in the world uses Windows Phone.
