Think the Lumia 920 is too heavy? [Infographic]

One thing is for certain, the folks who frequent /r/windowsphone are serious about their phones. A debate has been raging ever since the Lumia 920 began receiving negative remarks in reviews, stating the phone is too heavy for what it adds, which is the only phone in the world with optical image stabilization. Some say the extra few grams of weight are worth it, while others argue that the HTC 8X achieves the same camera quality with much less weight.

Of course, reviews are always subjective and ours for the HTC 8X and Lumia 920 are forthcoming, but a redditor has put together a graph to show those who might be on the fence about the weight of the Lumia 920 just how much weight is added. It’s interesting to note that an iPhone 5 with accompanying Otterbox is heavier than the Lumia 920. How many iPhone 5′s have you seen encased in those titanic beasts?

    At least from what I’ve read and heard, it’s not so much about weight as it is how the device feels in the hand. It may not weigh a lot more, but it feels like it does based on how you hold it.

    The HTC 8X has been complimented for how well it fits in the hand, which helps hide it’s size and weight. So, it may well be more about ergonomics than anything else.

    LOL @ 2 slices of turkey. But seriously, it all depends. One of my favorite devices, in terms of build quality, is the HTC Amaze 4G at 173 grams. This is considered pretty heavy, but to me it felt great because the device is a beast. It is solid and feels like a strong phone. If Nokia makes the device right, they could benefit from saying they have a solid phone. I guess we will have to see, I have never held it without a security chord attached to it, so it is hard to say.

    As a sidenote to that comment, when buying my Nexus S 4G, the slight curvature of the phone made its 4inch display feel much easier to navigate and handle with one hand than comparable phones. I feel the same way about the Galaxy Nexus compared to phones of it’s size/weight. Design plays a huge role in that area.

    Totally agree. I don’t mind a heavy phone as long as it is well-built. Phones can take advantage of that extra weight.

    Kind of a silly comparison when they are using the weight of a phone without a case versus a phone with a case or 2 slices of turkey slapped on it.

    it’s it’s the same exact weight as the HTC Arrive I’m typing this on. It’s a non issue IMO. Can’t wait to get my Lumia 920 this Friday! 2 more days!

    I happen to think the iPhone 5 is TOO light. I feel like I’m going to break it. I’ve yet to hold the 920, but a weighty phone isn’t a bad thing.
