Some users reporting major email+accounts bug in Windows Phone 8

We may have discovered the first major bug in Windows Phone 8. We’ve heard from several sources about a bug with “email+accounts.” This bug has been reported on both the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X. We are able to confirm the bug on our own HTC 8X.

The problem started with the People Hub. With Facebook and Twitter accounts linked it would not load new updates. Then we noticed that Google Mail did not have the most recent emails, and it was stuck at “syncing…” That was around 12 hours ago.

Fast forward to today and it’s even worse. Now the “email+accounts” page shows all accounts stuck at “syncing…”, and the Google Mail app crashes as soon as opened. We tried removing our Google account and re-adding it, but the “email+accounts” page keeps crashing as well. Rebooting the phone does not fix the problem.

We have heard that the only way to truly fix the problem is performing a hard reset. This is clearly a very major bug in Windows Phone 8. If you are experiencing the same problems let us know in the forum thread.

not good for an initial launch, especially for a platform that is starving for users. And given that this bug is affecting a major component of the phone, email, this is a very big deal.

This is not a surprise. Hopefully Microsoft can fix it on their side. If not, good luck on waiting on a update such as 8.5 to get it fixed, especially through At&t…lmao. TEAM ANDROID!

LOL. It should be fixed soon.

Pretty bad bug. I hope they get it worked out soon. Like perry said, this does not look good for such a large initial launch.

It’s the gmail settings which google recently changed. Delete gmail account and all is back to normal

I’ve heard deleting Skype is a fix… didn’t work for me, either did removing email accounts and such (if/when I can finally access them). Irritating.
