Verizon delays HTC 8X orders, offers discount on cases as apology

If you ordered a HTC 8X from Verizon you may have received some bad news in your inbox. People are reporting that Verizon is sending out emails to alert buyers that their phone shipment has been delayed. Verizon feels bad about this, and is offering a 30% discount on cases as an apology.

“Important information about your HTC Accord order.┬áCongratulations and thank you for your HTC Accord order. We know you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new device.

We regret to inform you that your HTC Accord was not shipped as scheduled on November 13, 2012. You will receive a shipping confirmation email that will include your final shipping date.

We are working hard to get your HTC Accord to you and apologize for any inconvenience. As a token of appreciation for your understanding please enjoy 30% off the case of your choice. Offer is valid through December 14, 2012.”

The funny thing is that Verizon refers to the device as the “HTC Accord” in the email, which is the old codename for the 8X. It’s too bad Verizon isn’t offering a discount on something more useful for the 8X, like JBL Speakers. The discount offer is available until December 14th.

Any 8X buyers get this email?

  • I wonder if this had anything to do with the fact that Verizon’s model of the 8X is supposed to ship with wireless charging.

Offering a discount on a $30 case that’s been insanely marked up? Lame. All accounts should receive a credit to their account or something. At least it’s something though.

I know I wouldn’t be happy with a discount on a case. Why not just give users a small refund?
