First look at MetroTalk (Google Voice) for Windows Phone 8 [Video]

As a Google Voice user the app I rely on the most is MetroTalk, so when the opportunity arose to get an early look at the Windows Phone 8 version arose I jumped on it. Being a Google Voice user on WP7 leaves a lot to be desired, but with the announcement of WP8 I was optimistic it would get better. I was right.

MetroTalk for Windows Phone 8 puts the experience right up there with the default messaging app. Fast resume makes seeing your inbox an almost instantaneous action. Notifications on the lockscreen are a much welcomed addition. No longer do you need to check your start screen for notifications. They also fixed pinning the call/text page to the start screen which wasn’t working properly on WP8.

Check out the video for all the cool new features in MetroTalk for Windows Phone 8. They hope to submit this version to the Windows Phone Store this week. We will of course let you know when it arrives.

NICE! I will try it again once I get another Windows Phone device. I used to have this issue before, the app would load every single time I opened it. I hated it! lol.

And by load I mean it would just look for new stuff. It’s like the app wasn’t working in the background trying to get the texts.

  • Awesome! I switched from GoVoice to MetroTalk awhile ago, so I’m happy to see these changes.

Any info on when this will be available in the Windows store? Or if we can get our hands on Beta somewhere?
