Nokia details incoming Windows Phone 7.8 features

We’ve known about the major features of Windows Phone 7.8 for some time, including the new start screen and setting lockscreen wallpapers from Bing images, but a recent Nokia feedback survey shows that the company is just as dedicated to supporting its old devices as it is the new ones. As you can see the list of additions from Nokia even outnumbers that of Microsoft. The bullet points for 7.8 listed in the image are as follows:

From Microsoft:

  • New homescreen experience with more room for your Live Tiles. Now resizable.
  • Set the Bing image of the day as the Lock Screen wallpaper.
  • Pocket and child Lock screen Security
  • 20 new accent theme colours

From Nokia:

  • Bluetooth Share (for DRM free media files)
  • Cinemagraph add-on to create blend and photo and movie-like animation, creating photos that are alive
  • New camera lenses to remove unwanted objects in your photos such as passers-by or people on the edge of the shot the spoil the photo.
  • Updated Contacts Transfer application
  • Updates Contact Share application
  • Ringtone Maker application

Is this enough for you to be satisfied with the Windows Phone 7.8 update or did you expect more?

Since Microsoft won’t admit it, I will do it for them. Dear Windows Phone 7.5 (Beta) owners, we have basically screwed you all over like we did Windows Mobile 6.5 owners. We have used you all for beta for Windows Phone 8 and now the beta test is over and we do not need your platform anymore. Don’t worry about us totally abandoning the platform. You will still have the ability to download apps, we are just not going to update them anymore and you will just be stuck with the bugs and glitches of apps. Just so we don’t make it look so bad for screwing you over, we will give some of you an update to 7.8 which is basically cosmetic surgery like eye shadow covering a black eye so you don’t look so beat up after being screwed. This will be the last update as we permanently shut Zune down. We are not giving discounts to you toward a new Windows Phone 8 either. We do not want those half baked Windows Phone 7.5 back that we sold you all. Our suggestion is that you dig deep in your pockets and buy a Windows Phone 8 at full price or run to Google or Apple.
