Microsoft Surface and Lumia 920 make the world’s top most searched tech items for 2012

Every year Google looks back on its mass of queries for the year and categorizes the top trends of that year for the world to see. This is always an interesting phenomenon, since it can show what devices were popular, which celebrities were popular or died, and whether or not a company has a future. General interest in categories from current events to consumer electronics all piece together the year in review.

This year in the Consumer Electronics category, the top three items listed are predictably the iPad 3, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the iPad Mini. But the world does not stand on three results alone. Further down in the top ten, at number eight, we have the Microsoft Surface and bringing up the rear, the Nokia Lumia 920. Keep in mind these Windows devices have beat out a veritable army of Android phones and even the iPhone 5. Impressive.
