Nokia has been hard at work making their best app offering even better for the Windows Phone 8 platform. The Nokia Drive+ beta reached 2.1 today and with it comes the much needed battery saving function. If you’ve used your shiny new WP8 handset for navigating at all, you may have noticed the phone drains battery quickly if it’s not plugged up to charge. Nokia has somewhat remedied this with battery saving mode, which will still give you navigation instructions when the app is in the background.
“Save battery power between charges with the battery saver. When you switch this on, the app runs in the background, and you’ll hear navigation instructions when being guided along a route. In other cases the GPS will be switched off to reduce power consumption.”
Not too bad, but there are still plenty of improvements to be made, so we’ll keep an eye on the app while Nokia continues to tweak it for users.
