One of the great features of Windows Phone 8 is the ability to download specific maps for use while you may not have a data connection. Using the maps feature while offline has many benefits, but one of the downsides is that there’s no push notification to alert you when you may need to download a new map update. This usually only occurs when you open the maps app itself, which is then too late if you’re already offline.
A mapping update was released today, so if you’ve got several maps downloaded on your phone, now is a good time to update them. In order to check for these updates, go to Settings > Applications > Maps > Check for Updates. Pretty nifty, huh?
