Whether or not a particular WP7 handset will receive the Windows Phone 7.8 update has been plaguing early adopters for some time now, as neither Microsoft nor other handset manufacturers aside from Nokia have been transparent about the update. Now Samsung has finally made a statement, letting customers know that all of their WP7 handsets will be receiving the WP7.8 update:
We can confirm that our products carrying the Windows Phone version 7.5 , are updated the [version] 7.8 but will be made ??available with terms decided by Microsoft.
Of course, this still isn’t Windows Phone 8 like early adopters wanted, but it’s a nice offering and certainly better than what most Samsung Android handsets receive a year after they’ve been released. If you’ve got any Samsung WP7 device, then an update is headed your way. The question now is when?
