One of the few new Windows Phone devices at CES this year is the Huawei Ascend W1. This is a phone that we have seen countless times in the last year, and today we finally got to see it in person. Huawei has been treating the phone strangely. Yesterday they didn’t say a single thing about it at their press event, but they have it on display at their booth.
The Ascend W1 has a 4″ WVGA display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 5MP camera, 512MB of RAM, a 1950mAh battery, and NFC. The Ascend W1 runs Windows Phone 8, and Huawei lists it as “Portico” which is the most recent build that includes SMS call reject and Keep WiFi on.
The body has that Nokia feel to it with the shape and the bright cyan blue color. Once you take a closer look there are plenty of differences. The screen juts out from the body to create an edge all around, and it has a Motorola DROID-like chin on the bottom. It is also really light in the hand.
