Nokia posts new Switch to Lumia TV ad, looks very familiar [Video]

Nokia has posted a new ad for their Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices on YouTube today, and they look…familiar. The ad focuses on the great photo quality of Lumia phones, wireless charging, and Nokia City Lens. The tagline for the commercial is the now familiar “Time to Switch.” It’s a good commercial, but it just feels a little stale.

Microsoft has been doing commercials very similar to this for a while now. In fact, if it wasn’t for the “time to switch” tagline I would have guessed it was a Microsoft-made Windows Phone ad. There is nothing wrong with the commercial. I would have just liked to see them take it in another direction. Something a little more unique from what Microsoft is doing. What do you think?

I like it. But yes, it is weird to see the companies taking slogans from each other. Maybe they are just trying to be uniform? After all, that is kinda what Windows Phone is about.

If anything, they should OPEN the commercial with the ringtone. I was trying to watch it again to see what I liked and didn’t like, but the jingle just wakes you up, doesn’t it? The commercial itself seems way blander than the ringtone alone, so if they played it first, people would turn and look to actually watch the slightly dull commercial for the very good couple of points it makes.

I would say the same thing happens when I have the TV on in the morning; CBS keeps using the same jingle when it opens CBSTM, and suddenly 1 or 2 people in the house literally drop whatever they are doing to watch.
