Huawei Ascend W1 comes to China as the world’s cheapest Windows Phone

The Huawei Ascend W1 was finally made official a couple weeks ago at CES. Now we move on to waiting for pricing and availability. Luckily Huawei isn’t making us wait too long. China is the first country to get their hands on the phone, and at a very nice price.

The device is available online in China for only $260. This makes the Ascend W1 the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device on the market. previously the Nokia Lumia 620 had the crown by coming in at just $320. Cheap phones are very important for the success of the platform, especially in countries like China. The Ascend W1 should also arrive in the UK sometime in Q1. We don’t expect it to come to the U.S. at any time.

The little guy is not bad at all. I love the affordable approach Windows Phone is taking. I mean the top of the line Windows Phone devices are only $450!
