Tech2 of India’s latest Mobile Grudge Match features the Nokia Lumia 620 and the HTC Windows Phone 8S. At first, spec-wise, there are many similarities. Both share the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, both have the same amount of RAM, and both have the same 800×480 screen resolution.
There are a couple points where the 8S tops the 620. Namely, the 8S features scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, has a 4″ screen versus the Lumia’s 3.8″ size, and a larger battery; 1700mAh versus 1300. The 8S is also 14g lighter, at 113g, almost exactly the weight of an iPhone 5.
On the other hand, the 620 has a number of features that seem to have more weight over those of the 8S. The Lumia supports NFC, has a front-facing camera, has a smaller f-stop (f2.4 versus f2.8), and has active noise cancellation. Not mentioned in the comparison, the Lumia also includes Nokia’s exclusive Windows Phone applications, such as Nokia Music and Smart Shoot.
For those looking for the most solid, basic smartphone of the two, I would recommend the 8S for the larger battery and scratch-resistant glass. But the Lumia 620 seems to have the better feature set, and as both are very close in price, even identical in India, I would prefer the Lumia for the Nokia applications and larger standard memory.
