PSA: Microsoft Surface Pro is on sale today, are you getting one?

Today’s the day that many people have been waiting for: Surface Pro launch day. Starting today Surface Pro is available at all Microsoft retail stores, Best Buy, and Staples in the US and Canada. Pricing starts at $899 for the 64GB model, but there is also a 128GB model, and of course the¬†keyboard¬†covers and stylus. Unlike Surface RT, this model runs a full version of Windows 8. This means you can run full scale desktop class applications such as Photoshop. The only sacrifice you make is battery life, and the tablet is slightly thicker.

We know many of you were holding off on the RT version and waiting for Surface Pro. Now that it’s available are you picking one up? If you do, will it be replacing a laptop? What accessories are you getting to go along with it? If you aren’t getting a Surface Pro tell us why. We want to hear from you!

No. Too expensive. I will just buy a laptop.

no, it wont replace my laptop, which has a full hdd capacity and larger screen. i still prefer an iPad and laptop combo

I much prefer a lighter tablet experience that I get using my ipad. For full productivity, nothing beats a laptop or even a desktop. The surface pro sits in between, it’s not a good buy as tablet (heavier than most tablets, pricier, shorter battery life) nor as a laptop replacement (too expensive).

Microsoft fumbled this one. A tablet with the power of a laptop is something I’ve been eagerly waiting for. This would completely justify spending over $250 on a tablet (Nexus 7 was the one I immediately pre-ordered.

    not at that price.

Sooooo weird. Microsoft is almost literally sending NOTHING out to stores, and the consensus in here is that not a lot of people would want a Pro. Turns out the 128GB model sold out in mere hours after it went online for sale. This one example I found says a Best Buy had two 64GBs and ZERO 128GB models. Wow.

Nope. I already have the Lenovo Yoga 13. To me, this is a superior device, even without the pen included.

Would have loved one of these, but the ASUS q200e was more in my price range.

The difference in weight is not negligible, but it isn’t tremendous. The point is that this tablet isn’t for everybody, It definitely has a market.

    No way, Joe-se!

Sorry, You are an idiot. Comparing and ipad to a surface is completely moronic.

Nope, way too expensive for what it is.

Why was I down-voted? I just don’t want a Surface Pro for what it offers for that price. I would much rather get an RT at this point. Or at that price, a small laptop with better specs/storage.
