As expected, Nokia will focus on low-end phones at MWC

Mobile World Congress 2013 is almost upon us, and we’re eagerly anticipating what Nokia will have in store. So far we have already heard that they won’t be showing off a tablet, and now it’s looking like they won’t have any high-end phones either. Reports from Nokia insiders claim that the company will focus on a few budget phone at MWC. The goal is to steal some business away from companies like Huawei and ZTE who do well in China.

We’ve been expecting this the entire time. The last few years at MWC Nokia has announced low-end phones like the Lumia 610. This year we could see the Lumia 720 and 520. There is a slight possibility that Nokia could surprise us with a big phone, but we’re leaning towards not likely. Nokia would probably want to hol their own event for such a phone, especially the PureView Windows Phone we have heard rumors about. So while MWC might not be the most exciting thing in the world, it is a crucial step for Windows Phone success.
