Watch today’s Xbox event live with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 app

In case you’ve been living under a rock, today Microsoft is unveiling the next generation of Xbox. The event is taking place at their Redmond campus, but will also be streamed live online. Over the weekend Microsoft launched an app for Windows Phone 8 users that puts the event right in their pocket.

The app is called Live Video Player, and today it will be used to stream the Xbox event right on your Windows Phone 8 device. Since nothing is playing yet we’re not sure how well the app will work when millions of people tune in, but we’ll give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt. We will also be covering the event for anything related to the Windows world, and you can also watch it live online.

Since Microsoft has named the app vaguely we expect them to use this for any live event they stream in the future. Tune in to the event today at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. Download the app below if you have Windows Phone 8. What do you expect to see in the next Xbox?

I know a lot of people were disappointed with the event… but I’m looking forward to E3 even more now. They’ve GOT to have some big announcements.
